Our mission
Our mission is to revitalize Española Valley's economy while preserving its cultural legacy, fostering resilience, and empowering local businesses and entrepreneurs.
SERVING ALL OF ESPAÑOLA
Building a vibrant and healthy future
The pride of Española residents is hard-earned. It’s time we channeled our community pride into catalyzing new opportunities for local businesses and entrepreneurs to restore our local, shared economy. One that honors our heritage and legacy and becomes a destination for travelers seeking out unique cultural experiences. These new opportunities will set the foundation for a sustainable future and reduce the temptation to work with outside interests who can provide funding and resources in exchange for a uniform, suburban makeover for the community.

OUR RESTORATION APPROACH
- Residential: Creating safe, comfortable and convenient housing options.
- Grocery: Bringing fresh, locally sourced produce and foods to the people
- Agriculture: Growing fresh produce on a working farm and providing it locally
- Retail: Buy local from community vendors, artists, entrepreneurs, craftsmen.
- Community: Providing local residents spaces to gather, share ideas, interact, and host events
These new opportunities will set the foundation for a sustainable future and reduce the temptation to work with outside interests who can provide funding and resources in exchange for a uniform, suburban makeover for the community.

A story rarely told in history classes
Española (then called San Gabriel) was the original capital of the first European settlement in the United States. And it quickly became the heartbeat of Northern New Mexico. It was the main artery of the Camino Real and hosted diverse travelers who eventually called the valley home. It’s a story rarely told in history classes but this largely peaceful coexistence has continued for nearly 400 years.
Española was a place where multiple generations of people could live out their life with every need met within city limits. Our community was considered cozy, culture-rich and a place not only for local entrepreneurs to build thriving businesses but for visitors to come and grab a meal at El Parasol, buy a truck, and partake in diverse cultures formed through the immersion of Spanish, Native, Sikh, Mexican, and South American traditions.
Española was a key hub for railroads during the Industrial Revolution. Española helped build Los Alamos and serve the Manhattan Project. But our recent history isn’t as celebrated.

LET’S PRESERVE WHAT’S OURS WHILE WE STILL CAN
WE INTEND TO ACT AS GUARDIANS OF ESPAÑOLAS CULTURAL LEGACY, ENSURING IT STANDS STRONG FOR GENERATIONS TO COME
The generations of families who lived and thrived locally are rapidly leaving us. The stories of entrepreneurship, collaboration, thriving culture and economic opportunity are fading into memory. Española runs the risk of losing its last remaining bridges to its rich and unique past. It’s up to us to restore the original promise of Española if we don’t want to lose this history entirely.
And while the community manages multiple present threats, outside interests are hoping to swoop in and buy up land on very favorable terms to redevelop a new, homogenized community that would threaten the full erasure of our communal legacy.
